How to Get Rid of Tummy Fat

How do we get rid of tummy fat?  That is the main question for so many people these days and the answer is not always so easy.  The one answer that is always suggested though is a mix of diet and exercise.  There are many diets out there and many exercises as well but how do you choose the right combination for you and your lifestyle?  The answers are plenty but here is one of the most common suggestions: lose and burn more calories than you eat.

If you eat more calories than you burn you will gain weight.  If you eat the same amount of calories as you burn your weight will remain the same.  If you eat less calories than you burn you will lose weight.  That sounds simple enough and logical enough to understand.  If you need a summary so far, just exercise and work up a sweat so that you can burn more calories than you are eating.  To make this even easier for you, cut your eating down a little bit and exercise more and this will be as easy as 1, 2, 3.

There are many ways that you can start to diet.  One of those ways is to eat healthy food: vegetables, fruit, non-processed foods, etc.  One of the only problems with dieting healthy is that in can become very expensive.  The price of healthy food just keeps on rising so that is one reason some people use for not dieting.  There are more ways to go on a diet besides eating healthy.  You can actually keep eating the same foods that you are currently eating everyday but just cut down on the size of portions that you eat.  Eating junk food can help you lose weight, sounds crazy right?  Well it isn’t, this is the truth.  If you cut down the size of the portions that you eat, you are cutting down the amount of calories and the amount of fat that you allow into your body on a daily basis.  Add those calories up and you will realize how much faster you are actually becoming healthier. Now, here are two different ways to diet and all you have to do after this is to add some exercise to burn more calories.

There are many different exercises that you can implement into your daily routine.  Some people may not even realize that they are already burning a lot of calories every single day.  Bathing, raising kids, cleaning your house, labor jobs, cleaning your yard and your daily walking are all ways that you burn multiple calories.  This is already half of the calories, maybe even more, that you need to burn every day.  Just add some exercises such as sit-ups, crunches, running, jumping jacks, walking, or even stretching to give your body the extra energy you need to burn the other half of those calories.  Any little bit of exercising helps in losing the weight off of your stomach.

Dieting and exercising are the best possible way to lose any amount of belly fat that you may want to lose.  What you have to decide is whether the time and effort involved in giving up a little bit of food and exercising a little bit more is worth the better shape that you will be in after some time.  If this exercise and small diet is worth the belly fat that you will lose, then you have just found the solution to how you will look better and lose more weight.

5 Surefire Tips To Weight Loss Success

There is no dearth of diet programs whether online or offline. Even if you limit your search to the world wide web only, you will still find an avalanche of diet programs. What is harder is finding a diet plan that would be ideal for your health, help you lose weight and not harm your body in any way. Believe me, finding the best weight loss program is like finding a pearl from the bottom of the ocean. But regardless of which diet program you chose, you will still need to follow the basics of dieting, otherwise you will never be able to lose weight. In this article, I will tell you about five basics of effective weight loss.

1. Metabolism is the key weight loss determinant: Always keep in mind that your body’s metabolic rate is what will determine how much weight you will be able to lose at a given point of time. If your metabolic rate is high, you can lose a lot of weight even while at rest; on the other hand, if your metabolic rate is slow, then you should find ways to increases it. One way of speeding up your metabolism is by using weight loss pills and supplements.

2. Regular exercises are a must: Regardless of how strictly you follow your diet, if you lie idle all day sitting on your couch and watching your favorite TV program, how can you expect to shed those obstinate pounds? You should exercise regularly and never skip even a single workout session! If you are afraid of high intensity exercises such as cardio and resistance training, you can start with lighter aerobics. Aerobics will help you burn as much fat as cardio. If you cannot do exercises at all, regular walking alone will help you burn fat.

3. Don’t lose it too quickly: I know that you are in a hurry to lose weight and fit yourself into one of your old jeans or bikinis, but you should never attempt to lose weight too fast. Ideally you should lose no more than 1 or 2 pounds per week. If you lose more than that then it can affect your health negatively. If you think you are losing weight too fast, you should immediately see a doctor.

4. Eat low fat foods only: I know that every weight loss expert has advised you the same thing, but allow me to reiterate that you should eat only those foods that have a low fat content. Eating fatty and junk foods will make your situation worse!

5. Work harder for hereditary obesity: Some people become overweight because of hereditary issues. If your parents were overweight then it is no wonder that you won’t be any different. Also, people who suffer from hereditary obesity need to work harder than others in order to lose weight. This doesn’t mean that you cannot lose weight at all; but you shouldn’t expect yourself to become ultra slim like others.

#1 Get adequate sleep

Whatever your age is, getting an adequate sleep is very important because it is the time where your body can rest and rejuvenate for a new day ahead. Looking at the “weight loss” perspective, do you know that getting an adequate sleep will help you lose weight? You have the hormones Leptin and Ghelin to thank for that.

According to recent studies, Leptin – an appetite stimulating hormone- decreases during sleep and increases when a person lacks sleep. Meanwhile, Ghelin – an appetite suppressing hormone – increases when a person was able to have good quality sleep. Because of such, it has been concluded that sleep helps a person lose and gain weight.

#2 Consume 100 calories or less for snacks

Snacks are not bad if you wish to lose weight. In fact, health experts recommend having mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks daily because it will help decrease or avoid food cravings. However, limit your snacks to up to 100 calories only if you wish to lose weight fast.

Tip: Great snack options are apples, carrots and celery sticks, and frozen yogurt. These healthy snacks contain very low amount of calories yet they taste as good as or even better than any other snacks.

#3 Follow a negative calorie diet

A negative calorie diet is when you eat foods that need more calories to burn than the actual calories they contain. This causes a calorie deficit which eventually leads to weight loss.

To start off, list down low-calorie foods which you could consider as “negative calorie foods”; this includes but are not limited to asparagus, zucchini, celery, cabbage and broccoli. Next, prepare a menu that consists of “negative calorie foods”; a fresh vegetable salad perhaps. But do remember to skip mayonnaise and other heavy creams as they could bulk up the calorie content on your salad. A good alternative is lemon juice with a dash of salt and pepper to taste. Lastly, compute the amount of calories that you can burn from eating the food served.  IF you computed a calorie deficit, you’ll be surely on your way to lose weight without spending thousands of dollars on expensive exercise machines, wasting countless hours in the gym, or starving yourself to death.

4 Exercise Tips For the Working Mom

With the pressures of daily life, sometimes working out regularly can become difficult for a working mom. I know it because I am a working mother myself. I have been working even before marriage. The excessive stress at office, coupled with the stress of taking care of my family, sometimes make it impossible for me to stick to my weight loss plan.

That said, I don’t let stress become an excuse for avoiding exercises altogether! Every one of us has only 24 hours allotted in a day, so if you can fit in all of your daily activities within that 24-hour period, how is it that you cannot find time for exercises? Don’t you brush teeth, or take a shower everyday? Why do you do these? Because they are part of your daily routine. You know that if you don’t brush your teeth regularly, you will suffer from tooth decay. Similarly, if you don’t take a shower regularly, you will have skin diseases. But do you know that if you don’t workout regularly, you will become fat?

It is not right to use the ‘lack of time’ as an excuse for avoiding exercises. Let’s be honest here: you are probably either afraid of exercises or just don’t know where to start! In either case, this article will help you achieve your fitness goals!

1. Find a friend to workout with: Working out alone is not always an enjoyable experience. However, if you can have a friend workout with you, chances are that you will start loving your workouts instead of hating them! Plus seeing someone else working out in the gym will motivate you to continue with your exercise routine! If you know another working mom who has the same fitness goals as you, then rope in her as well!

2. Get an IPOD: Take an IPOD with you whenever you hit the gym. This is a great way of kicking out the boredom out of your workout routine!

3. Do what you love: There are exercises that you probably don’t love to do; if you force yourself to do these exorcises it is only a matter of time before you become bored with them! If, instead, you find exercises that you actually love, then it becomes easier!

4. Start it slow: If you have never exercised in life, it is only natural that you will be afraid to hit the gym. Ignore people who say that you have to exercise daily in order to lose weight. Instead, try to take it easy: start by working out only for fifteen to twenty minutes per day, for two or three days a week. As your body gets accustomed to your new workout routine, you can scale up the intensity of your workouts!

Top 5 Ways to Get Fit…and Get Your Geek On

Even geeks like to be fit, no? Sure they do. And what better way to achieve great health and celebrate your geeky tendencies than to take part in one of our Top 5 Ways to Get Fit…and Get Your Geek On.

1. Live Action Role Playing (LARP) – Who says kids get to have all the fun? LARPing is the epitome of adult make-believe. Set in an alternate “world,” a player enters the game as a character and acts out his or her role as if he/she was a person/creature/other-worldly being in the midst of this world. Assuming a role means dressing, speaking, responding, and thinking like your character would. In other words, it’s complete immersion.

The fitness part comes in when you are playing a game that includes a battle, a hunt for some naughty, hell-raising entity or simply being active within your world. And since game sessions can last anywhere from a few hours to a few days and a lot of ground is often covered, the calorie burn potential here is pretty sweet. Just watch what you eat while you’re there – living in a world that worships carbs and sugars could and should be a deal-breaker.

2. Chess Boxing – An unlikely pairing, the geeky act of playing chess and the badass act of boxing are married to create a hybrid called Chess Boxing. This “sport” is the brainchild of cartoonist Enki Balil, whom adored the idea so much, he worked it into one of his comic books.

Chess Boxing works like this: The match begins with a chess round, four minutes in length. Then, after a one-minute break, the players square off for three minutes of boxing. And so goes that pattern for an entire eleven rounds. Of course, you’ll win on a personal level by zapping cals during the boxing session and working out those brain cells during the chess session, but you can also channel your inner competitor and win the game by knocking your partner out during boxing or by a checkmate during chess. Hmmm, the ultimate battle of brains versus brawn. Sounds fun to us.

3. Guilt-free Gaming – While spending hours immersed in your favorite video game might be your way of shrugging of the day’s stressors, it sure as heck isn’t doing your waistline any favors. What to do? Get your buns up during “down time.” For example, if you’re all about World of Warcraft (and who isn’t?), while your vehicles are traveling (and they take approximately 4 minutes to do so), sneak in some squats, lunges, sit-ups and push-ups. Same goes for any one of your video games with downtime. Better yet? Trade in just half of your WoW time in exchange for a spin on the Wii Fit Balance Board.

4. Treadmill Desk – Whether you spend umpteen hours a day at a computer out of necessity (i.e. your job) or because you are shooting for the world record in number of terms Googled per day, your hindquarters are spending a lot of time idle. As is the rest of you. What to do? Buy a treadmill desk, of course. While pounding away at your keyboard (which is arranged on a lovely desk that surrounds the treadmill), you can walk 1 mile per hour and burn as many as 100 extra calories per hour than you would sitting. That equals an astounding 57 pounds per year. Love that! Anything that doesn’t ask us to sacrifice our tech toys in place of getting active is all right with us.

5. Virtusphere – You know the saying, “That girl lives in a bubble”? Well, with Virtusphere, that could be downright true. Fitness goes geek by throwing the fitee (you) in a 10-foot hollow sphere, where you act out in a virtual world by using a wireless display affixed to your head. You can rotate that bubble any old way you choose by running from bad guys, training for a sports event or whatever else lights your insides afire. Sounds like a poppin’ good time to us. Heh.

So while walking and yoga are lovely choices for getting in shape, finding a routine that allows you to tap into your geeky side is all the better. Would love to hear if you’ve had any experiences with the activities listed above, or if not, which one you’d like to try first. Leave us a comment to let us know.

Weight Loss Glasses

Have you tried and failed Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, and NutriSystem? Do you think diet pills are too
dangerous and eating right and exercising too much work? Don’t worry—your weight loss nightmares
are about to come to an end! For only $18.75 you can purchase weight loss glasses, guaranteed to make
your food look so unappealing that you aren’t even interested in eating it!

These revolutionary sunglasses are tinted blue, which, according to psychiatrists is the most unappealing
color of the spectrum (blue snow cones are pretty good though, right?). The color blue is also associated
with calmness, tranquility, and of course depression, none of which really works up a good appetite. As
McDonalds, Burger King, and Jack in the Box have proved time and time again (hello—why else would
you need these glasses?), the most appetizing colors of the spectrum are red and yellow.

Seriously though, folks, the weight loss glasses may be worth the money. If you can manage to keep
them on your face twenty-four hours a day, you may never want to eat again. Just be sure to hold your
nose when something tasty comes by and forget that the glasses are indeed removable at dessert time
and you should be successful in your venture! On second thought, buy a pair of nose plugs and a tube of
super glue—that ought to take care of any sensory overload experiences you may encounter.

If anyone out there uses these and they work, do let the rest of us know that the new weight-loss “cure”
has arrived.

5 Video Games That Work You Out

Wii FitI remember back in the day when you wanted to work out, you either had to go to the gym down the road, or maybe you had to dish out $1,599 for a treadmill. This isn’t the case anymore in today’s technological era with the Nintendo Wii and everything else.

Now, granted, the Xbox, as well as the Playstation really don’t have that many games that help you work out. Unless you want to work out your thumb muscles with Guitar Hero, you will find that most games will make you gain weight, rather than lose it.

So, whether you have the Nintendo Wii, or maybe you don’t, this may be the system for you. You don’t even need to like video games to get the system, because you will soon find out that a $300 investment will be fun and well worth it.

Listed below are the top 5 games that I highly recommend. You will need the Nintendo Wii, as well as the Wii Fit set to get the full experience.

#1 Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board:
This is probably the most popular one. If you’re going to go this route, you’re going to want to get the Wii Balance Board. In this game, you can do yoga, strength exercises, as well as balance based games. Meet up with a fitness instructor and you can work out a daily routine. Log your calories and watch your weight.

.

#2 My Fitness Coach:
This game had some of the best reviews online and after playing it, I can see why. The cool thing about this right off the bat is that it’s only going to set you back $20. You will get a virtual trainer that can help you with over 500 exercises ranging from cardio to strength. Customize your own experience, play music and shed off the pounds.

.

#3 EA Sports Active:
I’m a big fan of many EA games. Not only do I like the fitness games, they have a lot of other fun genres as well. I know I’m a girl, but I love Tiger Woods golf! With EA Active, you can work with a partner at home, target your upper body, or whatever you please. Your own trainer will walk you step by step on what you need to do. The thing I like about this is that they have these very cool 30 minute challenges.

#4 The Biggest Loser:
If you’re a big fan of the Biggest Loser TV show, you will probably like the video game as well. You can pick out your trainer, do 20 minute workouts and even play the challenges. While it isn’t my favorite out of the 5, I think it’s worth buying.

.

#5 Gold’s Gym Cardio Workout:
From the makers of Gold’s Gym, they have a game out as well that can help you get into shape. Made by the creators of Ubisoft, it will only cost you around $15 for the game. This is the price of a meal at your local Applebee’s. Box, run, as well maintain your calendar to track your fitness and calories burned.

While the selections for fitness games are rather limited with the Xbox and Playstation, it just doesn’t compare with the Wii. As with the Wii, you can interact using the fitness board, controller, and more. If you want to lose weight while having fun, as well being in your own home, consider some of the games mentioned above!

How to Boost your Metabolism By Just Eating Right

Sometimes you don’t want to work out- you just want to make a few changes and try to get rid of the extra weight by eating better. Depending on just how bad you are currently eating- this could work. If your eating habits include daily pizza, doughnuts, soda, and other unhealthy foods on a regular basis; then simply eating better will help get your weight loss started. It’s not easy, but it is worth a shot if you REALLY don’t want to work out.

Knowing a little bit about how your metabolism works may help you see how this can affect your body. When you eat meals, the process of digesting your food begins. Your body starts drawing out the needed nutrition and uses them to create energy to help you function. It only takes about four hours to absorb the nutrients from your food, repeated with every meal. In a typical day this means your body is processing nutrients for about 12 hours, burning calories the whole time.

Your body has to work harder to digest foods that contain carbohydrates and protein because they take longer to process. Because of this, eating more can help you loose weight, but before you start stuffing your face in front of the computer, keep reading.

While eating more will help your metabolism, you need to not only eat the ‘right’ foods, but you need to eat them at several points through the day. So no skipping breakfast or lunch then filling up at night anymore. You should aim for at least one small meal every four hours, this way you keep your body constantly in the state of calorie burning.

There are several foods that help your metabolism by using more energy to burn- carbs and protein being key. Other things like caffeine, tea, coffee, chocolate and the chemical that is found in chillies help as well, but only a little. A high protein meal can actually burn about twenty-five percent of the whole meals calories just through the digestion process.

So it may seem that starting to just eat a lot of protein would be the answer, but then you would be lacking key nutrients you body needs to keep up the fat burning digestive process. Add in some supplements? No, while taking these are great IN CONJUNCTION with actual nutrients from food, you do not want to rely on these for nutrition- that is why they are ‘supplements’ they supplement a healthy diet.

Here are ten foods that you can try to include in your diet to help speed up your metabolism naturally. As long as you are not eating these with bags of chips, ice cream, and other unhealthy foods then you should see a change in how you feel and look.

Whole grain bread
Salmon
Eggs
Chicken
Green Beans
Cabbage
Summer Squash
Fresh Cheese
Non-starchy vegetables like Asparagus
And, of course, lots of protein rich meats

Did you know that drinking cold water can temporarily boost your metabolism by as much as thirty percent? So if you also drink a full glass of ice water with every meal you help your body even more.

Depending on just how bad you currently eat and if there are no other medical conditions causing a slower metabolism then you can see changes by just eating healthier. Hopefully once you start feeling the increased energy and seeing changes you will be able to add in working out and other changes in your lifestyle to make the changes complete.

Using the Internet to Develop Your Own Weight Loss Plan

Are you interested in developing your own weight loss plan? If you are looking to lose weight, there is a good chance that you may be interested in doing so. Although you can pay to have a weight loss plan supplied to you or you can choose to join an existing weight loss program, you may find the cost of doing so a little bit difficult, especially if you are on a budget. That is why many choose to develop their own weight loss plans.

If this is your first time developing a weight loss plan for yourself, you may not necessarily know how you should proceed. What is nice about developing a weight loss plan for yourself is that you have freedom. With that in mind, you will still want to make sure that your weight loss plan is one that you can benefit from and one that you can lose weight while on. For that reason, you may want to think about turning to the internet, when looking to develop your own weight loss plan or weight loss program.

When it comes to using the internet to help you develop your own weight loss plan, there are a number of different ways that the internet can offer you assistance. For starters, a good part of a weight loss program involves eating healthy. For many individuals, eating healthy is something that is difficult to do, as they are unsure as to what they should cook or how they should cook it. There are a number of websites that you can find online, many of which are free to use, that give you access to healthy foods and recipes. Many of these recipes are accompanied by pictures; therefore, you should be able to tell right away whether or not the food in question is something that you would eat.

Another part of losing weight involves exercise. For some individuals, taking a simple walk is enough to help them lose weight, but others must participate in more active exercise activities. If you are one of those individuals, you can find a number of websites that outline exercises that you should be able to do. You will likely find a number of fitness websites that come with detailed pictures or videos, which outline each step of the workout in question.

You can also use the internet to order weight loss resources, like weight loss books or exercise equipment. One piece of exercise equipment that you may want to look into buy is that of an exercise video. What is nice about using the internet to find an exercise video, which you can incorporate into your at-home weight loss program, is that you can not only buy videos online, but you can also find product reviews online. Product reviews are a great way to determine if the exercise video you are interested in buying is really worth the money.

Once you have found a number of exercises that you would like to do or a number of healthy meals that you would like to make for yourself, you are advised to develop yourself a list, in writing or on the computer. This list can act as a schedule for yourself. For instance, you could outline each workout that you would like to do on Mondays, as well as which meals you would like to eat on that same day. Having a detailed weight loss plan for each day of the week is likely to improve the chances of you following your own plan.

As you can see, the internet is a nice tool to have, when looking to create you own weight loss plan. For the best results, with finding what you need online, you may want to perform a standard internet search. As a reminder, not everyone is able to develop their own at-home weight loss plans and follow them. If you find that you are having a difficult time with staying on track, you may want to think about joining one of your local weight loss programs or even an online weight loss program.
